The three facts that matter
- Where the paying parent lives. Use that province's table, even if the children live elsewhere.
- The paying parent's yearly income before tax, usually line 15000 of their tax return.
- How many children the support is for.
That gives the basic monthly table amount. The receiving parent's income does not change the table amount in a standard case.
What can be added or changed
- Special expenses such as daycare and orthodontics, shared by income.
- Shared parenting of 40% or more.
- Split parenting, where each parent has at least one child.
- Incomes over $150,000.
- Undue hardship.
